Karla Harris presents the following "themed" shows in addition to her usual performances of jazz and pop standards. These special concerts are frequently booked at public venues, but can also be scheduled for private gatherings or corporate events.

Truly something different, this show invites you to experience "flights of wine and music," an original concept Karla brings to audiences with dazzling effect. The show, based on intriguing vintner research, pairs the best in live music with the best of wine to sample how different songs enhance - or detract from - the flavors of different wines. The effect is synergistic and sensual, creating something more. The audience is relaxed and engaged, listening, tasting, testing, enjoying.

Drawing on specially selected music from a variety of styles (from Monk to Mozart, The Doors to Dinah Washington) and performed live by Karla with her quartet, Wine, Woman & Song is a one- of-a-kind experience people have called "unique, classy and surprisingly fun."

TWICE AS NICE: The Concert

This concert is based on "Twice As Nice," Karla’s joint CD with internationally acclaimed bassist Tom Kennedy, whom LA Weekly calls "nothing short of inspiring," and Downbeat Magazine a "true virtuoso." In the tradition of such vocalist-instrumentalist pairings as Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley, the interplay of Karla’s voice and Tom’s bass is highlighted, backed by a full band.

The show brings to the stage the CD's theme - a tribute to seven legendary composers and lyricists of the great jazz and pop standards - as well as the collaboration of Karla and Tom, two artists who share a deep appreciation for this music and a love for performing it. The arrangements in particular shine a spotlight on Tom's signature sound on the acoustic bass, deeply emotive with acrobatic, horn-like solos, coupled with Karla's lyrical, expressive interpretation of these classic tunes.

"Twice As Nice: The Concert" has been enjoyed by audiences from across the U.S., there to tune in to the swinging original arrangements, deeply felt ballads, and stories about the songs and composers. Performing with top backing musicians, Tom and Karla create a mood perfect for the vibrant intimacy of jazz and cabaret rooms, private group events, and very special in-home concerts.
